Questions
How do we get the film, and do we need to buy it too?
Yes, you buy the film separately. The licence fee covers the public showing only and does not include the film's purchase price. The film is delivered by streaming only, through Vimeo OTT at the official store, and it can't be downloaded. Buy it there and stream it from that account at your event. You'll need a reliable internet connection and playback equipment at the venue, so test them beforehand.
What if more people come than I expected?
Let us know within 7 days of the screening and pay for the extra people at the same per-person rate. Nobody needs to be turned away. Showing the film to a larger audience than your licence covers, without telling us and paying, breaches the licence and may infringe copyright under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and equivalent laws overseas, which can result in fines and legal liability.
Can I change the date or cancel?
You can reschedule once for free with at least 48 hours' notice. Licences can't be refunded if you cancel, so please pick your date carefully. Reply to your licence email to reschedule.
Can I charge for tickets or use the screening to raise funds?
Yes. The per-person rate is the same for every event, whether it's free, ticketed, a fundraiser, a school screening or a corporate event, and you keep all the admission revenue. You are responsible for any fundraising, charity or ticketing permits or registrations that apply where you are, and you shouldn't suggest that the film's makers endorse your cause or event.
Is the film suitable for my audience?
COMMON WEALTH is rated PG in Australia for mild themes, suicide references and coarse language. We ask hosts to let their audience know about the suicide references beforehand.
